So Many Choices To Choose From
So Many Choices To Choose From
by Dr. Michelle Irwin
Some people think that it is easy to make the right choice when eating healthy, but the truth is that it can be quite difficult. When going out to eat, the “healthy choice” on a menu may be a salad or a grilled chicken option, but those are not always the best choice. Salads may have the kind of dressing that is just totally unhealthy, or someone might not be able to digest the lettuce that the restaurant cooks with. Similarly, the grilled chicken option could have dunked in some sugary marinades that make the healthy choice not actually so healthy.
Some healthy choices, however, are more fun than that though. Sweet potatoes instead of white potatoes or grass-fed beef instead of grain fed allow for healthier options that also taste super delicious. Then when you add a rainbow of vegetables to fill half your plate, you have a great healthy meal without having to resort to disguised salads and or bland chicken.
Another great option is to add flavor to your meals. One way to do this without including unhealthy sugar or inflammatory substances is to hydrate with some lemon water. Its dual purpose will help with digestion and give you a little flavor to enjoy along the way. This is a great alternative beverage to sodas and sugary juices as well which will only diminish your health in the long run.
Remember, small choices made consistently over time will lead to big health changes sooner than you think. Take the time today to make a healthier you tomorrow, and if you need some help, we will be here for you!
