Fuel Your Life
Fuel Your Life
by Dr. Michelle Irwin
Think about what you want for dinner. Are you just thinking of something that tastes good? Does it serve any other need other than pleasure? When we look at what we are eating as something more than just tasty treats, we can really start to fuel our lives rather than just have a moment’s pleasure while we eat to only then feel bloated and sluggish for the rest of the time.
Healthy food tastes great when we take the time to get the right ingredients, get complementary flavors, and take the time to let them cook to their optimal potential. I know this can be difficult to do in the hurry up culture of today, but when we plan ahead to use the time we have and the technology available to us, we can have easy healthy options throughout the week.
I don’t have hours to cook at the end of my workday as you may imagine, so I have found ways to make healthy dinners quickly with food prep services and smart shopping on the weekends. Also, on the weekends I take the time to cook clean meals and use the freezer and fridge to have them available for the week or more ahead. When I take time to do this, I have more energy to be more active through the week as well as the weekends. I get more done, have more fun, and feel lighter in my emotions as well as my body.
This past year has been hard on all of us, we have all made changes for better or worse, but I know that as we look forward to the next year, we can start to use the good changes to create a better habit for the years to come as well.
Small things done consistently over time make new habits and build a better future!
