Avoiding Sports Injuries w/ Chiropractic Care
As a former Division One and semi-professional athlete and now current coach of three competitive youth soccer teams, I know firsthand the importance of athletes taking the appropriate steps in keeping their bodies healthy and injury-free.
I strongly feel that I was able to play at the level I desired for so long through those levels because I saw a chiropractor regularly.
Recently, I evaluated a soccer player that has been suffering from chronic low back pain.
After evaluation and looking at his X-rays, we found that he had major postural distortions that were adding a ton of excess stress on his spine.
Unfortunately, by the time he came in, he had already developed a stress fracture, and now he has to sit out for three to four months before he can get back onto the soccer field.
Had he come in earlier to be evaluated and taken the appropriate steps to improve his posture, this is an injury I strongly feel could have been avoided.
As chiropractors, what we do is find areas of the spine that are not moving properly and help induce motion.
There are many therapeutic and health benefits to manipulations and adjustments that we can do, especially for athletes.
Number one, it helps increase blood flow and circulation, which can help decrease swelling and inflammation.
Two, it helps stimulate receptors in your nervous system, which can help improve balance and coordination.
Three, it's a natural way to reduce stress hormones in your body, which make you feel better both physically and mentally.
