8 Foods for a Healthy Gut
8 Foods for a Healthy Gut
By: Dr. Michelle Irwin
It is that time of year again!
People are starting to get the bug to clean, moving the furniture, getting the garden ready, dusting the floorboards, and all the other tasks to get the clutter out your life.
But have you ever thought about doing the same thing for your gut?
We all want to have less clutter and junk weighing us down in our visual life so why not do that for our body. Get rid of what is literally weighing you down and not helping you at all.
When our gut is not working properly, we hold on to toxins, undigested foods, and our cells don’t get the vital nutrients needed to run a healthy body. While we are clearing the house out, let’s clear our gut out too.
The first thing we need to do is get the gut clear of what is holding it up. Making sure to get good fiber sources in daily will help you move things along and give the other toxins that we will be pulling out of the body somewhere to be eliminated.
Some tasty and easy sources of fiber include:
- Broccoli
- Berries
- Avocados
- Apples
- Dried fruits (like figs)
- Prunes and dates
- Nuts - like sunflower seeds and almonds
- Potatoes - like sweet potatoes, red and purple potatoes, and even the good old white potato (keep the skins on for the best fiber content).
Keep the preparation healthy and simple for all of these and let the wonder of nature help you feel light and free!
By starting with healthy eating habits, this will allow us to keep the clean body we are creating.
